Launched in 2018, GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing, tuned by the Meister of the Nürburgring, reflecting Toyota’s renewed commitment to performance following its return to top-level motorsport through the FIA World Rally Championship. The GRMN served as the precursor to today’s acclaimed GR Yaris.
Power comes from a unique 1.8-litre supercharged four-cylinder engine producing 209 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Unlike its turbocharged rivals, the GRMN’s supercharger delivers immediate throttle response and a distinctive induction sound. Front drive via a six-speed manual gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential, enabling a 0–62 mph time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph. The chassis features Sachs performance dampers, reinforced suspension, larger anti-roll bars and four-piston front brake calipers.
Exclusivity is a major part of the GRMN’s appeal. Toyota built just 400 examples for Europe, each carrying a numbered plaque, with approximately 100 cars allocated to the UK, making it significantly rarer than many celebrated performance hatchbacks. Every UK car was finished in the distinctive white, black and red Toyota Gazoo Racing livery inspired by the WRC.
